Recorded at
the original Randy's Studio and the old Joe Gibbs Studio in
Jamaica 1969-1976.
Winston Niney
(the Observer) Holness, headed the new rebel vanguard of
Jamaican producers in the '70's and '80s. He was known for
his sparse simplicity, heavy bass, and roots cultural and
rasta sentiment.
He acheived
his greatest successes as producer for vocalist Dennis
Brown. And the dub-treated rhythm tracks for these #1 hit
songs for Dennis are here archived and given an updated dub
mixing by Niney himself, along with Fatta. These are the
real thing - the old time acoustic dubs. A must by for Niney
fans and dub nuts!
"The
result is a lively collection of warm, slightly muddy
acoustic tracks broken up by Niney's exuberant remarks, e.g.
'This one is Changing Moods Dub/So whether you like it or
not, I'm gonna change your mood!'" -
