…sounds like it was recorded 35 years ago: the tapes were mastered directly to vinyl, which was used as the master recording for the CD release. So there’s a warmth and thickness to the sound that complements perfectly, for example, the elastic rocksteady rhythm of “Dillinger” and the glistening guitars and one-drop thump of “Belle Star.” If you liked this band’s first five albums, you’ll love this one — and you’ll almost certainly love their next five albums as well. Each release finds them digging deeper and deeper into the very same groove. And good for them. When he’s not busy composing, arranging, DJing or combining ancient Middle Eastern rhythms with dub effects, Raz Mesinai (also known as Badawi) is writing graphic novels. He’s about to publish his very first novel, “The Heretic of Ether” on his very own Dubfiction Comics.

Deep underground, a war is being waged between two states of trance. Data has been transformed into liquid and flows through a massive network of pipelines connected to a main database, known as the “Main Stream”. Those who partake in the liquid lead passive lives in dark spaces, tranced out on remixed and re-edited images recorded from life before it went underground. On a routine pipeline inspection in the decrepit 4th quadrant, disgruntled maintenance worker Septa 6 discovers a mysterious hallucinogen, a fungus called the Thought Bacteria. What follows is a life-or-death conflict between the synthetic and the so -called organic, a war waged in the dimness of ancient catacombs, through the smoke filled underground clubs, the brightness of the interior spaces of your mind and the strange and deceptive neutrality of a corporate boardroom that chills like nothing you’ve seen before.
On “10 Deadly Shots Vol. 1″ the mysterious reggae collective captures the vibe of classic reggae and distills it down to it’s essence – without vocals. The tracks were mastered directly to vinyl with the digital / CD parts cut from the vinyl lacquer. This unique process lets these ten gems breathe with the warmth and soul of the island.
The album was delivered to the Plant’s label ROIR on April 14 and released as an exclusive digital download on the band’s website on April 20 or 420, which is a day to celebrate cannabis culture. It is also available at all digital retail stores.
