We couldn’t be prouder to announce that Univox’s first full-length has been chosen as The Deli’s CD of the month! Congrats, guys!
With a sound that deserves to be heard through arena stacks, this quartet creates epic rock anthems, but it’s more than just power chords and guitar riffs from below the waist (well, opener “Pi” is a little bit). Led by their radio-ready vocals and the strong backbone drumming of Boersma, Univox combine monster pop hooks and straight-up pedal-to-the-floor rock with such theatrical flare that you can’t help but be swept away over the top with them.

Hear Fang Island talk about the crazy night in Greenville where they first met Univox in an interview with 402 Productions! Keg parties, grizzly looking moms, furniture bonfires?
Then check both bands out on May 27 at The Barbary in Philly. We caught them last month at Maxwell’s in Hoboken (no jokin’) and let’s just say that you cannot afford to miss this show, Philadelphia! Duuuuuuuuude.

“The concept for the Pi video came to me the same way my songs normally do: IN A VISION FROM GOD! So I wrote down the vision as a video treatment, and then, after reading it, God sent me an estimate for how much it should cost: $110.”
The video is dedicated to the late music British journalist Steven Wells, who while writing for the Philadelphia Weekly challenged the band to make a video.

Univox are also going to be on the radio this afternoon doing a live set & interview on WZMB 91.3FM in Greenville, NC. Tune in at 4pm!
Philly City Paper says: Univox's crusty power-driven pop, which incorporates the noisily melodic elements of Sonic Youth with the frenetic splintered pace of The Stooges and a touch of Motown swing, is easily imaginable coming from car windows on a summer's night. Read more...

IMPOSE MAGAZINE says: This wigged-out, cleverly-named Nashville trio must have been on some kind of collective bender when they recorded this zinger of an album, because they got some kind of “lightning in a bottle” shit going on here the likes of which you don’t roll into all that often.
It’s a soulful, greasy, howlin’ whiteboy kind of rant-rock that’s even greater than the sum of all its crazy parts, a frantic, no-holds-barred, “fuck the rules” kind of album that we desperately need right now. Read more...
