Bass Culture NYC and ROIR Records are teaming up to host an extra-special installment of Roots Rock Reggae this Thursday, August 25th to celebrate three years of early evening reggae vibes at Motor City Bar (127 Ludlow Street b/w Rivington and Delancey).
Resident DJs Hahn Solo (Dub Is A Weapon) and President Carter (WKCR-FM) will be joined by special guest selector QUEEN MAJESTY (Deadly Dragon Sound) as well as renowned emcee PETER RANKS for this special event.
In addition to these special guests, we’ll also feature some brand new music from ROIR Records. New albums from 10 FT. GANJA PLANT and Brazil’s own DIGITALDUBS hit the stores on August 30th, and we’ll play select cuts from both for your listening pleasure.
The party kicks off at 6:30pm, with two-for-one drink specials until 9pm. See you on the dancefloor!
Over the past few weeks, we’ve been giving away free MP3s from our two new reggae releases via Facebook. We’re very excited to announce that those two new releases are now available for pre-order!
ROIR presents Digitaldubs first US release, “#1“, which drops a wicked selection featuring singers, deejays, and, of course, killer dubs. The duo enlist such legendary vocalists as Ranking Joe, Earl Sixteen, and Brinsley Forde of Aswad, as well as Brazilian contributers Jeru Banto and Dada Yute to set fire to some crucial riddims.

Two years after releasing their critically acclaimed album “Bush Rock” and a year removed from dropping “10 Deadly Shots”, the ‘Plant is back stronger and with their deep in the pocket roots sound in full effect. The ‘Plant were thrilled to collaborate with reggae legends Prince Jazzbo & Sylford Walker, each dropping two vocal gems, while Meditations great Winston Watson kindly provided additional harmonies throughout. The sound is 70′s exquisite.
We will be releasing two new reggae/dub releases on August 30… a new record by one of our favorite American acts 10 Ft. Ganja Plant and the international debut by Brazilian dub sensations Digitaldubs.

Last week, 10 Ft. Ganja Plant gave away the track “My Roots” featuring reggae legend Sylford Walker from their upcoming album “Shake Up The Place”… well, this week’s track features yet another Jamaican reggae great, Prince Jazzbo.
We’re very excited to announce that we will be releasing a new 10 Ft Ganja Plant album on August 30. ”Shake Up The Place“, features reggae legends Prince Jazzbo & Sylford Walker and will be available on CD, MP3 & 180g vinyl LP!
Pre-orders will be available soon, but for the next three weeks you can get your 10 Ft. fix on Facebook. We’ll be premiering a video of a new song every week, and giving away a free MP3 of the track… all you have to do is “Like” 10 Ft. Ganja Plant on Facebook!

To warm up for the tour (which mostly takes place in the West Coast), both bands are playing the Summer Reggae Fest at the Hiro Ballroom next Thursday July 21.
