Dub Trio are still finishing up their headlining tour of Europe before coming back to N. America for a round of shows in November… make sure you don’t miss them! Tour dates after the jump…
We will be releasing two new reggae/dub releases on August 30… a new record by one of our favorite American acts 10 Ft. Ganja Plant and the international debut by Brazilian dub sensations Digitaldubs.
As you may have heard, we’ve been giving away tracks from both albums on Facebook. Well, this week is your last chance to grab a free MP3 from both bands as we’ll be starting pre-orders next week!
ROIR is excited to announce that we will be releasing the international debut by Brazilian dub sensations Digitaldubs!
Digitaldubs were one of the first soundsystems in their native Rio de Janiero, Brazil. They’re now one of the country’s most respected acts, having revolutionized reggae culture in their homeland and brought the Brazilian reggae sound all over Latin America and Europe.
ROIR presents Digitaldubs first US release, “#1″, which drops a wicked selection featuring singers, deejays, and, of course, killer dubs. The duo enlist such legendary vocalists as Ranking Joe, Earl Sixteen, and Brinsley Forde of Aswad, as well as Brazilian contributers Jeru Banto and Dada Yute to set fire to some crucial riddims.
For the next two weeks, ROIR will be giving away tracks from Digitaldubs #1 on Facebook.
This week’s track is “Pirate’s Game” feat. 70s Jamaican reggae singer Earl Sixteen. Watch the video then visit ROIR on Facebook to download a FREE MP3:
We’re very excited to announce that we will be releasing a new 10 Ft Ganja Plant album on August 30. ”Shake Up The Place“, features reggae legends Prince Jazzbo & Sylford Walker and will be available on CD, MP3 & 180g vinyl LP!
Pre-orders will be available soon, but for the next three weeks you can get your 10 Ft. fix on Facebook. We’ll be premiering a video of a new song every week, and giving away a free MP3 of the track… all you have to do is “Like” 10 Ft. Ganja Plant on Facebook!
This week’s video/MP3 is for the track “My Roots” feat. Jamaican reggae legend Sylford Walker. Watch the video below to listen to the track!
Bad Cop‘s new video for “I’m In Lust With You” (taken off their debut album Harvest the Beast) premiered today on PopMatters:
Also up on PopMatters is a demo version of a new song “Wet Lips”, originally debut on Subba Cultcha. The final version of this song will be available on a 7″ released this summer… and guess who will be releasing the 7″? That’s right.* Don’t turn the dial!
“Wet Lips” is sloppy, slightly spacey and fully raging, but from the sound of things the demo doesn’t compare to the version of the track which will be released on the 7″.

The bass player for pioneering hardcore band Bad Brains, Daryl Jenifer fuses his old bands gritty, grinding approach with electronic rhythms and disembodied vocal snatches for his first solo outing, In Search of Black Judas. That it pulls from reggae, too, is no surprise: Bad Brains always had a healthy amount of Rasta in their punk, the only difference is that, on Black Judas, that influence is more pronounced. The record is conceptual: the songs bleed together, most of them build from sinewy, searching bass lines, topped with patches of static and sporadic LED blips. Jenifer’s voice is low and mysterious, and in the end, Black Judas feels more like a sonic collage than a proper rock record, each song sliding into the next, burbling like the Dagobah swamp. It’s a strange, fascinating journey – no pop, no style, just strictly roots.
Bad Brains bassist Darryl Jenifer’s debut solo album “In Search of Black Judas” will be in all good record stores this Tuesday. But you can pre-order it now at the Bad Brains Official Store!
It’s available on CD, LP & MP3… and it’s on SALE!
Darryl recently talked to Alternative Press about his upcoming album “In Search of Black Judas” and the state of music today. Read the interview here.
