Bad Cop’s debut album “Harvest the Beast” will be out on CD on Sept. 14, but you can pre-order it here for a low-low price of only $9.99 (reg. $13).
Dudes, you gotta check this album…. Impose says “it’s one of the albums of the year, mos def” and dig what Corazine had to say:
“Harvest the Beast” pulls off a mesmerizing balancing act. Bad Cop manages to be loud and heavy and ear-crashing while still being bright and poppy. Bad Cop is psychedelic. Bad Cop has the energy of punk in the vehicle of garage rock… Boisterous and punchy but pretty yet heavy but speaker-blowing yet powered by pop but trippy yet raw and direct and with the energy of metal but not the sound, more punkish … going in circles …. ARGH! You get the point. Bad Cop’s Harvest the Beast is a brilliant slab of noise pop garage psyche delirium!!!!!!!!!”
There have been a few changes to the ‘Pink Dots Fall N. American tour dates… just changes (SLC, DC, PDX), and a few additions (Philly, Pittsburgh, Chapel Hill, Orlando, Hermosa Beach & Costa Mesa) . No subtractions.

Can you believe that America’s favorite indie/punk zine “Big Takeover” is already 30 years old! Very many congrats to Mr. Jack Rabid & crew… They’ve got a bangin’ celebration extravaganza over at the Bell House on July 30 & 31st.
Tickets are either already on sale or will be on sale by the end of the week! East coasters, don’t forget they’re also playing the Afro Punk Festival on Saturday June 26 at Commodore Barry Park in Brooklyn!
Hear Fang Island talk about the crazy night in Greenville where they first met Univox in an interview with 402 Productions! Keg parties, grizzly looking moms, furniture bonfires?
Then check both bands out on May 27 at The Barbary in Philly. We caught them last month at Maxwell’s in Hoboken (no jokin’) and let’s just say that you cannot afford to miss this show, Philadelphia! Duuuuuuuuude.
We’ve been telling you about these boys for months. The blogsters are loving their unique vocal harmonies, post-punk construction and garage-punk skronk. Following the digital release a few weeks back, ROIR is proud to release the debut CD album from Philadelphia’s Univox!
Univox are playing two shows in Philly this month:
May 27 @ The Barbary, Philadelphia, PA with Fang Island
May 29 @ Danger Danger Gallery, Philadelphia, PA
Terre T is honored to welcome Cleveland legends The Styrenes to the Cherry Blossom Clinic on Saturday May 1st from 3-6 PM. It’s not hyperbole to call the Styrenes – whose members have also been in the equally legendary Electric Eels and the Mirrors – one of the greatest bands in rock history. Rolling Stone called the Styrenes ‘post-punk before punk ever happened,’ but that only scratches the surface of their genius and influence. They’ll be playing at Death By Audio in Brooklyn on April 30th and Manhattan’s Cake Shop on May 1st, but tune into the Cherry Blossom Clinic to hear them lay it down live on WFMU!
The Styrenes on Tour
Apr 26 – The Summit, Columbus, OH
Apr 28 – M Room, Philadelphia, PA
Apr 29 – The Church, Boston, MA
Apr 30 – Death by Audio, Brooklyn, NY
May 1 – Cake Shop, New York, NY
“If Lou Reed is the grandfather of punk, then Paul Marotta is its cool uncle” – Nashville’s Dead
Also, The Styrenes Twitter account, updated by John Morton is probably the best reason to join Twitter ever. @Styrenes
James Chance in France just rhymes too well, doesn’t it ? Anyhooooo four shows this May from the king of funky punk free jazz. All over the globe, babies.

May 7 @ The Victoria, London, UK
May 8 @ All Tomorrow’s Parties, Butlins Minehead, UK

Philly City Paper says: Univox's crusty power-driven pop, which incorporates the noisily melodic elements of Sonic Youth with the frenetic splintered pace of The Stooges and a touch of Motown swing, is easily imaginable coming from car windows on a summer's night. Read more...

IMPOSE MAGAZINE says: This wigged-out, cleverly-named Nashville trio must have been on some kind of collective bender when they recorded this zinger of an album, because they got some kind of “lightning in a bottle” shit going on here the likes of which you don’t roll into all that often.
It’s a soulful, greasy, howlin’ whiteboy kind of rant-rock that’s even greater than the sum of all its crazy parts, a frantic, no-holds-barred, “fuck the rules” kind of album that we desperately need right now. Read more...
A long awaited re-issue on vinyl & CD of the celebrated ROIR cassette, this is more than just a record; it’s a piece of NYC punk history. “Loud Fast Rules!” captures the band doing what they do best, playing a sharp, fast, energetic live set of catchy, feisty songs that mix punk with metal, reggae and good old fashioned rock ‘n’ roll. A perfect soundtrack to a slam dancing, pit slamming, pogo party! Read more...
After more than 25 years, the Legendary Pink Dots continue to make compelling new music that is demanded by fans and maintains the high level of quality that set their careers in motion. Their new album finds the band in familiar territory; pulsing Krautrock, dark and sinister pop and epic post-industrial soundscapes. The album invites the listener to put on head phones, close their eyes and embark on a technicolor journey. US/Canada tour in October. Read more...
Darryl Jenifer returns to ROIR, home to the Bad Brains’ legendary debut album, to release his solo debut. “In Search of Black Judas” blasts off with hardcore riffs and monstrous grooves, delivered with classic Bad Brains fire and fury and the quickness to shift into downtempo reggae passages.
